Why Masons Wear Aprons

ProudFatherTif_160x200Freemasons wear aprons because the operative masons on which we base our fraternity wore aprons when they did their work.  A white apron is a universally recognized symbol of Freemasonry.

As a member works his way through the levels, or “Degrees” in Freemasonry, he wears his apron in different ways to let other Masons know how far he has progressed.
